MCM Training Tips from Nutritionist Lisa Dorfman
Lisa Dorfman, MS, RD, CSSD, LMHC, The Running Nutritionist® is an accomplished author/athlete, Board Certified Specialist in Sports Nutrition, Sports Nutritionist for the University of Miami Athletic Department and an adjunct professor in the UM exercise science department. Lisa has competed in hundreds of running and multisport events including more than 32 marathons. MCM Training Tips from Runner Carl Rundell
Carl Rundell is a 16-year competitive runner. He led the MCM in 2004 for more than 20 miles, falling behind the last 10K to finish in 5 th place. He returned in 2005, determined to do better and with a time of 2:22:26 finished just eight seconds behind Ruben Garcia to take second place in the closest finish in MCM history. In 2006, he finished second with a time of 2:24:22 and in 2007, he completed the event in 5th place with a finish time of 2:26:28.

Billy Edwards has been competitively running since he was 10. An former Marine and graduate of the Naval Academy, Edwards was a member of the Marine Corps marathon team and competed for the USMC in several races including the semi-annual challenge against the British Navy/Royal Marines and five MCMs. Currently, Edwards is using his marathon experience to train for IronMan Triathlons.

MCM Training Tips from GroundPounder Mel Williams
In 1976, Mel Williams began what has turned into 31 years worth of participation in the Marine Corps Marathon. Despite having run the New York City Marathon two weeks earlier, and having stayed up partying until 2:00 a.m. the night before the inaugural race, Williams finished in 2:51:41, 86 th place overall. In 31 years, he has consistently finished in the top of his age group, and won his category several times. He was inducted into the MCM Hall of Fame in 2001.
