Start

Miles and Molly StartThe Marine Corps Historic Half will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2009. Held entirely within Fredericksburg City Limits, the course begins and ends at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center.  

Click here for driving directions.  Shuttles will be available for runners and spectators in the Commuter Lots at Route 17 and Route 3.

Runners will line up by expected finish time on the start line and will be able to choose their appropriate corral on race morning. Bib numbers are not related to corral assignments.

Baggage

MCHH Orange ShirtRunners should use the goodie bag they obtained at Packet Pick-up to store personal items during the race. Check the bag at the Baggage Area in Hall B at the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center prior to the race and retrieve baggage from the same location afterwards.

Marines and volunteers will check and store the bags and facilitate the return of bags with proper verification and bib number. As a backup, participants are encouraged to enclose a business card or some other form of identification.

The US Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Historic Half are not responsible for valuables placed in storage.

Post Race and Family Link-up

Massage Envy LogoPost-race hospitality will be located near the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center along with Baggage Retrieval and free post-race massages provided by Massage Envy

MCHH WFLS Team 2Finishers can replenish with Quaker Rice Cakes, Snyder’s pretzels, bananas, bottled water and PowerAde. Runners will also receive recovery bags courtesy of New Balance featuring first aid kits, cold packs, sunscreen, deodorant wipes, wet naps, lip balm and a magnetic poetry kits.

Runners can also get their pictures taken with George and Martha Washington and Thomas Jefferson in the Finish Area.

Runners and spectators can meet up at the Family Link-up area, located outside the Expo Center. To coordinate link up, runners are recommended to meet under the flag bearing the first letter of their last name. These flags are designated as follows: A-B, C-D, E-F-G, H-I-J, K-L, M-N, O-P-Q-R, S, T-U-V, W-X-Y-Z.

WP 6: Sam Perry Blvd and Hospital Drive|

Food Stations

FS 1: Jelly Belly Sport Beans at the Intersection of Caroline and Charlotte at the Fredericksburg Visitors Center, just prior to mile 8.

Post Race
After the run, participants will find plenty of post-race replenishment in the Hospitality Area including pretzels, bananas and more, located at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center.

Aid Stations

AS 1: The intersection of William St with the ability to move between Sunken Road/Kenmore Avenue
AS 2: The intersection of Fall Hill Avenue and Riverside Drive

Medical support, provided in part by MediCorp Health Systems, is also available in the finish area and from roaming medics on bicycles throughout the course.


Transportation

MCHH Runner FinishThe MCHH will offer free race day shuttles from the parking areas to the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center, the location for both the Healthy Lifestyle Expo and the Start/Finish areas for both runners and spectators.  Download the details.

Shuttles will run from two commuter lots located near Fredericksburg. The first lot is located off Route 208 near Houser Road. The second lot is located on US-17 towards Warrenton, just off I-95.

Additionally, spectators can take advantage of a free shuttle service from the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center to Old Town Fredericksburg to see runners at miles 7/8 of the course. The shuttle will transport spectators from World Street, near the Expo Center to George and Prince William Streets in historic downtown from 6:45 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.

MCHH RunnersMCHH participants can expect to have in action photos taken in multiple on-course locations by the experienced team of professional photographers from MarathonFoto. Proofs will be posted online beginning the evening of the MCHH and color proofs will be mailed to participants shortly afterwards.
